At Eat to Live, I am committed to helping my clients achieve their optimal health and wellness through personalized coaching and support. I believe that everyone has the power to transform their health, and I'm here to help guide you on that journey.
I take a holistic approach to health coaching, focusing on the whole person - mind, body, and spirit. I work with my clients to identify their unique health goals and create a personalized plan that fits their lifestyle and needs. My goal is to empower clients to make sustainable changes that will improve their health and well-being through plant-based nutrition (don't worry, I work with clients no matter where they are on their journey). I teach hyper-nutrition, too. However, we will get into that later. I'm not interested in having a patient - I'm interested in having a student. I want to teach you these techniques and tools I used to make myself in to the best version of me, so that you can be the best version of you!
My name is John and many, many moons ago I was in excess of 240 lbs. Many will say that's not that big...however, on a 5'6" frame, that was large. I started to get bigger just before I was discharged from the Navy. By the time I was 30, I had diabetes, coronary artery disease, liver disease, I was riddled with kidney stones, rampant acne and eczema all over my body, and the irritable bowel syndrome I had since I was a wee child was to such a level that eating was a physical and emotional disaster. Doctor after doctor said I wouldn't make it to 40 without surgery and/or major medical intervention.
Around the age of 32, I was at my biggest; about 244 lbs; and I was suffering on every level. I spent a couple of weeks wrapped around a toilet in the bathroom very intent on just letting myself die. I cried alot and thought about all the ways I could end my life to not feel any more pain. I had never been lower.
My diet up to this point was primarily meat, a starch of some kind and maybe a vegetable here and there. I ate lots of processed food and sugar was a welcome companion to many an overwhelming day. I didn't pay attention to where food came from or what was in it... or, if it was even classified as real food. Nutrition didn't mean a thing to me. I was dying... slowly, but way faster than God intended.
My journey to health and wellness started when I met a celebrity trainer and nutritionist named Don Lemmon. He has, unfortunately, passed due to a car accident many years ago. However, the things I learned from him put me on a path of nutritional self-discovery.
I began researching and reading everything I could on diets (I've tried them all), nutrition, human anatomy, biology, and overall wellness. I used my own body as a lab to try everything. I wanted to determine what would work best to combat the comorbidities that were killing me.
Eventually l landed on a plant-based/vegan way of life that started reducing my symptoms and curing my issues. Due to having poor absorption of nutrients because of IBS, diverculitis, and the strong possibility of Chrone's disease I practice hyper-nutrition (which I will explain in much more detail upon meeting you). To this day, I am still learning and incorporating what I observe in myself and others to compile a fact-based, clinically proven (based on research of meta analyses by professors, doctors, and scientists) method of changing one's diet to eliminate the foods we eat that are killing us to learning how to Eat to Live.
